What did I do this second time around in Dubai? Well heard of the opening of Atlantis the Palm; hotel/resort/waterworld theme park ala Sunway Lagoon, except on a larger, grander scale?
yes , the grand opening with fireworks boasting to light up 43 km of the shoreline, and with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Michael Jordan, Denzel Washington, Lindsay Lohan , Janet Jackson and even Oprah Winfrey on its guestlist?

okok.. fine! not there , as in there, THERE. Close enough though. I was on Jumeirah Beach, just opposite the Atlantis; a splendid view of the fireworks , YES INDEED!!!!

this bit of the Jumeirah Beach area, with its cafes and bars on the sidewalk reminds me a teeny wee bit of Sunway Pyramid.
